Introducing Claire Insley

claire-insleyI started my counselling training in 1995, completing a variety of courses over the next 3 years. I then travelled the world for a number of years and returned to the UK to study counselling again in 2005. I completed my Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling in Feb 2008 and continued with my volunteer counselling for Check Point, an information and advice centre for young people aged 11 – 21 years. I finished working there when I immigrated to New Zealand in August 2008. I have recently moved to Pakuranga and am delighted to be able to offer my knowledge, experiences and skills to Masada.

I believe I can make a difference to the all people who come to Masada. I am a highly motivated person and pass on my enthusiasm to others with ease. During counselling sessions I encourage people to make their own decisions and come to their own conclusions about their lives and the decisions they have made so far. My approach is client and solution focused and I have worked with a variety of people from differing backgrounds. I am a good community networker and have a passion for young people and a desire to help them achieve their potential and offer a positive role model for those who have none. Empowerment, motivation and inspiration is the key to working with youth, teens ,adults and families .

My Advanced Diploma was very extensive and provided a wealth of information and tools for therapeutic use. Integrated counselling covers a wide variety of therapeutic techniques, theories and models. I have experience of dealing with many issues including eating difficulties, drug addiction, problems with families, depression, incest, rape, bullying, child protection issues, domestic violence, Asperger's syndrome, anxiety, stress, careers advice, exam stress and difficult neighbours.

I am also a trained Supplements Advisor, which means I can offer advice and information on dietary concerns and health advice in general, to advise on different minerals and vitamins, as well as the use of herbs and other alternative health practices.

My skills and experience with Qi Gong and Tai Chi would be very beneficial to young people. I would love to offer sessions as part of the after school care or holiday programme. Everybody who comes to Masada could benefit from these gentle and simple exercises. I have also studied a number of meditation techniques, which again could be very beneficial for clients, helping to calm and de-stress young people, providing a good grounding for them.

I welcome the opportunity to work with you , along side you on your journey

Claire Insley
